La Zahùrda is a rustic holiday home high up in the hills of, Andalucía famed for its rugged terrain, a kaleidoscope of indigenous flowers and trees, and a real holiday feel.
Kick off your shoes and enjoy spectacular views of Europe’s second-highest craggy mountain range, long lazy days in the Spanish sun, a view of the Mediterranean, dozing at the swimming pool, and nourishing silence. The bleating goats and braying donkeys on the hills are very entertaining.
Our home is the pretty village of Comares, a historic hamlet with a Moorish heritage, Arabic architecture and a charming local life.
La Zahùrda, just outside the village walls and attracting people of all nationalities, whether they are artists, walkers, cyclists or those who prefer to soak up the views, the sun and swim in silence. We attract executives, outdoor enthusiasts and sun worshippers. Many guests, particularly European and British travellers, return a year later for the sun and silence.
La Zahúrda has spectacular views of the La Axarquia countryside and across to the Mediterranean sea. From a conical hilltop guests experience the rustic feel of the villas and enjoy painting, yoga, cycling, swimming, sun bathing, walking and home cooking in fresh mountain air surrounded by a kaleidoscope of flowers, the lively scent of wild fennel, and tweeting birds.
There are two houses on the property. The casa is the main house from which you enter as you alight the stairs from the driveway. It features a wide balcony overlooking the countryside and in certain light all the way to Africa. There is a large lounge with an open fireplace for entertaining which opens onto a lovely bedecked terrace where guests can comfortably sit and enjoy a fabulous meal.
The casita is the smaller house at the bottom of the stairs from the casa. It has a homely feel. The lounge is cozy and the dining table opens out onto a terrace with views of the garden and the mountains, often dappled in sunlight as the shadows create changing patterns all day.
